Inventory reorder tracker

A tracker that warns the lab before supplies run out, not after.

The problem

Orders used to go out after an item had already run out. Checking stock was slow and nobody’s main job, so shortages were noticed too late.

What I did

• Listed every consumable and reagent with its current stock and how quickly it gets used.
• Set each item’s reorder point at two months of use, the management policy, so there is time to order and receive a delivery before stock runs out.
• Added a log of every item issued to each department, which keeps an audit trail and shows real usage.

What changed

Procurement now orders before items run out instead of after.
